The story
There is a place in Mexico where the mountains tumble toward the Gulf, and where, for generations, people have gathered around a wooden platform to make music together. This is Veracruz, birthplace of son jarocho.
Its sound is unmistakable: the bright, percussive strumming of small guitar-like instruments called jaranas, voices trading verses, rhythms that seem to dance beneath the melody, and the sharp percussion of feet striking the wooden tarima. It is music built for gathering, storytelling and movement.
For more than twenty years, Los Vega has carried that tradition from Veracruz to stages around the world — a family ensemble deeply rooted in the culture that produced this music.
